Since 2017 the class has collected basic water quality data (dissolved oxygen, conductivity, pH) at SMER as part of our California Naturalist class. The sites are noted in the following map.

In 2023 we collected eDNA to identify fish species within the Santa Margarita River. The results showed the non-native large mouth bass and the native Arroyo chub and rainbow trout.
