Lennar Homes is planning on building a 123 condo unit near Cassia Lane and Poinsettia. As part of a settlement with North County Advocates (NCA) over changes in the Sept. 2015 General Plan update, Lennar, the city of Carlsbad, NCA, Preserve Calavera, Friends of Aviara, and Friends of Buena Vista Reservoir created a Community Benefit Agreement. Some of the highlights are:
- Lennar will complete construction of the last segment of Poinsettia so it connects to the west end of El Camino Real. This will include construction of a wildlife bridge.
- 3.1 acres of coastal sage scrub habitat will be added to Veterans Park which will become part of the Habitat Management Plan (HMP) preserve.
- Up to 5.7 acres of chaparral will be added to Stagecoach Park which will also become part of the HMP preserve.
- The 3.1 acre city property at the old Buena Vista Reservoir will be converted (by Lennar) to a passive-use neighborhood park at a cost to the developer of up to $3 million. The city of Carlsbad will be responsible for its maintenance.
