After over a year, the technical (feasibility) study for the proposed north coastal Community Choice Energy (CCE) provider is available. The cities of Carlsbad, Encinitas, Del Mar and Oceanside are very interested in pursuing this option as a means to rely on more renewable energy (vs SDG&E), offer customers a choice and more open decisions on electric sources, and funnel revenues back into the local economies. The first staff presentation on the report will be Feb. 20, 6 pm at the Encinitas city hall. Carlsbad’s presentation is set for Feb. 26, 6 pm (city hall) and Del Mar’s on March 4, 4:30 pm. CCE is an important step in reducing greenhouse gas emissions as climate change impacts become more severe. The city of San Diego is also working toward its own (or maybe larger) CCE. Stay tuned in for the future of CCE in our region.
